tips on finding the right home builder for you
When you choose a home builder, you are making a very important decision and staking a great deal on his or her ability and capabilities. So it's important to select a top-notch builder who will construct a quality product that you can be proud to call home.
The search for just the right builder to meet your needs may take time, but it will be rewarding if you're persistent and thorough. You can be introduced to Columbia home builders by realtors who work in new construction and residential development. Ask friends and business associates for recommendations. Find out if they are satisfied with their homes. If they have had problems, find out exactly what went wrong so you will know what to watch for.
After you have identified several potential candidates, visit some of the homes they have built. Knock on doors and ask people how they like their homes. Or visit the builder's neighborhood on a Saturday morning when people are out doing yardwork and other chores. And don't be shy. You may be surprised to find out how much people will tell you. Find out if the builder is a member of the Home Builders Association of Greater Columbia, the Home Builders Association of South Carolina.
Determine what type of customer service and warranty protection the builder offers. Don't wait until after you have purchased a house to find out the terms, if it is backed by an insurance company and what procedures to take if a problem arises. Find out what responsibility the builder assumes for the work of subcontractors and others who help build the house.
Once your are comfortably settled into your dream home, secure and satisfied, you will realize that choosing the right builder was well worth the effort.
